Hello all!
We have emerged from our cocoon as a beautiful butterfly! Well, a little bit, anyway. As you can probably see, the website is being worked on still. But the most important thing to report is this: the WYFSD will henceforth be known as Dyfodol!
We all at Dyfodol are very excited about what the future will bring us. So excited, in fact, that we decided to name ourselves after it. “Dyfodol”, for those of you who don’t know, is the Welsh word for “future”.
Of course, that wasn’t the only reason to choose this name. We, as young people, believe that it’s important for us to work together to ensure that the future is safer and more sustainable, which will benefit not only us, but our descendants too. We might have changed our name, but our ethos is as strong as ever. We are committed to ensuring that young people all over Wales are educated about sustainability and the impact it (or the lack of it) has on their lives; that they are empowered to have a voice on issues that are important to them; and are given a chance to act and see real change for the better in their local communities, throughout Wales and across the world.
We have some exciting stuff in the pipeline, which includes our long-running Carbon Cycle project (now in its fourth year!), a new group starting up in Wrexham, taking eight young people to Mongolia in September (yes, WOW!), and much more. If you’re not involved, what are you waiting for? Become a member now. It doesn’t even cost you anything, because we’re that nice.
